Monongalia County Literacy Volunteers provides innovative, confidential, and free programs that increase literacy skills for adults.

Vision:

Monongalia County Literacy Volunteers envisions a community where all people, who so desire, have the literacy skills and knowledge needed to:

  • Break the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy

  • Communicate in English

  • Be active in their children’s education

  • Make informed, healthy lifestyle choices

  • Make informed financial decisions

  • Use technology to better their lives

  • Obtain safe and affordable housing

MCLV also envisions a community that understands the economic repercussions of illiteracy, that financially and physically supports literacy efforts, and becomes an invested, active participant in the battle against illiteracy.
