Monongalia County Literacy Volunteers, established in 1983, is an organization that envisions a community where all people, who so desire, have the literacy skills and knowledge needed to: - Break the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy
- Communicate in English
- Be active in their children’s education
- Make informed, healthy lifestyle choices
- Make informed financial decisions
- Use technology to better their lives
- Obtain safe and affordable housing
MCLV also envisions a community that understands the economic repercussions of illiteracy, that financially and physically supports literacy efforts, and becomes an invested, active participant in the battle against illiteracy.
