The Third Annual Literacy Volunteers Golf Tournament sponsored by Monongalia County Literacy Volunteers, a United Way Agency, will be held at 1pm, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Mountaineer Golf Course in Morgantown WV. Proceeds from this tournament will directly benefit adult learners in Monongalia County. We really need your support! A corporate sponsorship of $350.00 provides advertising and a foursome to participate in a fun day of golf and contests. A hole sponsorship is just $100.00 and allows you to advertise your business on one of the tee boxes during the tournament with a sign displaying your logo and information. For an additional $250 we will reserve a spot for a team of four from your organization to compete in the tournament. The tournament format will be a 4-person scramble, starting at 1pm, Friday, July 29. Entry fee for the tournament is $300/team or $75/person. A 2009 vehicle is being offered by Premiere Buick Pontiac GMC for a hole-in-one on hole number 18. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams. Other special tournament competitions, contests, raffles, and mulligans will be available. Each golfer will be provided a snack pack at the beginning of the tournament. Dinner will be served in the pavilion at the course immediately following the tournament at which time awards will be presented. The mission of Monongalia County Literacy Volunteers is to reduce the number of adults who can not read well enough to possess basic literacy skills in Monongalia County. Our volunteer tutors assist adult learners to help them improve their reading and writing skills at no charge (FREE) to the adult learner. Literacy Volunteers strictly upholds the confidentiality of all adult learners in the program. The organization also seeks to raise public awareness of the problems associated with adult illiteracy.
